Blog essay for Till We Have Faces

Orual, we have watched you since before you first marked this world. I am Theia, and I will be your translator and judge. We have heard your plight and have answered it. Many of us know of your struggles. You were brought about in obscurity and revile, even in such a place as within the palace wall's. Treated poorly, and given unfair circumstances, such as physical appearances, parental death, revilement, coventry. Yet, we thought you would've faired better.

You have warped these feelings into a malicious and vile possessiveness of someone who is not yours. Your sister, whom you share a bond with. In doing so, you throw the hatred and blame onto those you cannot even face. You say she is yours. "Mine" you say, "Thieves" you call us. You say we that we are unjust gods, that neither help, nor leave you alone. You've read your own complaint and now see the error of your ways, yet you still repeat your mantra. Woe is you! You read the story of your sister, at the temple of Istra, and revile us for lying and manipulating others with our myth's.

Even the living know that myth's are not meant to tell historical accuracy's, but rather to tell narrative accounts in order to draw out the deeper truths of the world. For you, Orual, the gods chose to change the story of your sister's actions against the gods, not so we can simply lie or manipulate others from acting in the same vain and going against the us. Though we would be justified in doing so, if we willed. Rather, we did so to reveal the deeper truth of your feelings and make you reveal your own flaws, so that judgement and ultimately mercy, can be passed onto you. Yet here you stand. Woe is you! We do feel sorrow, as your plights with life rational, and not unusual if others were in a similar place. Yet your actions can not be so easily discounted. It's the humans who say, a "A lesson learned is a lesson earned." To this, I condemn you to the rank of god, in order to gain understanding. You will furthermore be known as Clementia. Until due to time, you will not seek to be with your sister. Depart from here!
